STORY: Snowfall in the capital. As here in Berlin, the first snow of winter fell in many places in Germany over the weekend. The German Weather Service issued a warning of ice for Brandenburg, among other things. Although the rain was not suitable for sledging, the snow on Sunday seemed to attract many walkers to go outside or to the Christmas markets that were already open. During the night of Monday, temperatures in Berlin fell below freezing again, and in the early morning the capital measured minus one degree Celsius and below.
