Unusually long breaks in posts on

The major Hollywood studios haven’t had any new posts for ten days Elon Musk’s online platform X released – and according to a media report, it’s no coincidence.

The media companies made the decision, among other things, because they feared a negative environment for their brands, reported the US broadcaster CNN. Officially, representatives from studios such as Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. did not want to comment.

It is noticeable that the studio accounts on X (formerly Twitter) have not published any new posts since November 17th. Such breaks are otherwise highly unusual, as new films come out every week and need to attract more attention on online platforms.

In mid-November, X’s reputation was damaged twice. Owner Musk endorsed a post with an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory. It said, among other things, that “hatred against whites” was being spread by the Jews. Musk wrote under the post that it contained the “actual truth.”

Risk of losses

Hate speech researchers also showed how ads from well-known brands appeared alongside Nazi content. X then claimed that the organization Media Matters for America had ensured that the advertising was displayed next to the posts by repeatedly loading the profiles and took the matter to court.

After the two incidents, several major companies suspended advertising on X. The New York Times reported at the weekend, citing internal documents, that the platform, which is already struggling with weak sales, could lose up to $75 million in revenue by the end of the year. X claimed in a statement that it was only about an amount of around eleven million dollars.

Musk has repeatedly emphasized in recent weeks that he is not an anti-Semite and was received in Israel on Monday. There he visited, among other things, a kibbutz that was attacked by the Islamist Hamas on October 7th with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
