The US online platform Twitter was temporarily unavailable to thousands of users in many countries. This comes from data from the website Downdetector.com, which collects failure reports from various sources. According to the website, as of 2:30 p.m. (CEST), more than 54,000 people in the United States reported problems with the social network.
Other countries such as the UK, Mexico, Brazil and Italy also reported that Twitter was not functioning normally. The cause of the failure is still unclear. There has been no comment from Twitter yet.
Disturbances in web services are not uncommon, but the platform of the short message service has been rather stable in recent months. Twitter was last affected by a similar outage in February. At that time, the company announced that it had fixed a software error.
