OnePlus and Oppo intensify cooperation – Hardware

Oppo and OnePlus intensify their partnership. This is not a surprise per se: Both belong to the same parent company: BBK Electronics. In addition, OnePlus has now adopted many elements from Oppo’s ColorOS for its OxygenOS interface. But now they are going one step further and have announced a strategic partnership from which both brands will benefit and better differentiate themselves from each other.

The gist: Oppo will invest about $1.43 billion in OnePlus over the next three years. They want to pursue a two-brand strategy. In this context, OnePlus wants to be established as a pioneer brand for flagship smartphones. OnePlus wants to offer products again at more aggressive prices that are designed to sell at manufacturing costs. The aim is for OnePlus to offer the best value for money of all brands in the respective price ranges.

OnePlus will go back to its roots, at least in China, and only sell its products online. At the same time, customers should receive support from Oppo’s service centers. Along with the announcement, OnePlus has also revamped its community app in China.

It is still unclear whether all or some of these adjustments should also apply worldwide or whether they are primarily aimed at the Chinese market. We will monitor the situation and keep you informed of any further announcements.
