Karl Sebastian Greenwood is indicted for fraud and money laundering in connection with the OneCoin project, according to the Department of Justice.announce
Greenwood co-founded OneCoin along with Ruja Ignatova in 2014. Since then, the two have scammed people around the world, collecting billions of dollars.
“Greenwood and his accomplices, including Ruja Ignatova, are still fugitives. scammed unsuspecting victims of billions of dollars and claimed that OneCoin would be the ‘Bitcoin killer’, in fact OneCoins are completely worthless,” said US Attorney Damian Williams.
In the emails between Ignatova and Greenwood, a ruse was also suggested to defraud investors. The two plan to simulate volatility and modify trading prices. Victims are estimated to have total investments of more than $4 billion, according to DOJ data.
Ignatova remains on the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.
