Judged for “embezzlement of public funds”, the former deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis had then recruited the mother of his wife Monique Escolier-Lavail, and had paid her more than 39,000 euros in wages in exchange for her help in writing a book on SMEs that never appeared. A six-month sentence was requested against his stepmother, whose real work was questioned by the prosecution.
