He was drunk driving and caused the death of a young father. A 28-year-old man was tried on Monday in the Lorient court for having fatally mowed down a 27-year-old scooter driver before fleeing, reports The Telegram. The drama took place on July 20, 2019 at dawn in the town of Inzinzac-Lochrist. Circulating with 1.61 grams of alcohol in his blood, the accused had hit a two-wheeler and had fled without bothering to notify the emergency services.
Thrown 30 meters away, the pilot of the scooter died on the spot. Prosecuted for manslaughter and hit and run, the individual was sentenced to three years in prison, two of which were suspended. He will be able to serve part of his prison sentence under the electronic bracelet regime.
His passenger was found guilty of failing to assist a person in danger and received an eight-month suspended prison sentence. Both will also have to pay 80,000 euros to the victim’s family for damage to affection, precise West France.
