One Voice files a complaint after the death of a large canine trapped in a snare

One Voice has declared its intention to file a complaint, Tuesday, after the discovery, at the beginning of March, in Barjac (Gard) of the body of a large canine, trapped in a collar. The association for the defense of animals specifies that its complaint will relate to the “destruction of a protected species” and a “breach of the regulations governing the practice of trapping”.

The body of the animal was recovered by the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB). An autopsy is underway to verify if it is a wolf or another species. This element is of great importance: the wolf being a protected animal, this death would constitute a violation of the law. But for One Voice, there is little doubt: it is a she-wolf.

“Although snares are still authorized by law, in particular to trap foxes, they are nonetheless cruel instruments, writes One Voice, in a press release. Once they are in the wild, it is impossible to prevent other animals from coming into contact with them (…) Animals that do not die by strangulation can agonize for hours in a jaw trap. »
