One-off payment – relief for gas customers – policy

The federal government wants to send around 20 million gas customers a total of twelve billion euros. A one-off relief in December should serve “as a financial bridge until the gas price brake is introduced regularly,” according to a government draft law that was presented to Reuters on Wednesday evening. The core plan is for gas and district heating customers to be reimbursed by their suppliers for a twelfth of their annual consumption. The advance payment for December can be omitted or refunded with the next statement. Those who consume no more than 1.5 million kilowatt hours of gas per year are eligible.
