One of Eric Dupond-Moretti’s laptops seized during the search at the Ministry of Justice

They therefore did not leave empty-handed … According to our information, the magistrates of the Court of Justice of the Republic who searched, Thursday, the Ministry of Justice seized one of Eric Dupond-Moretti’s mobile phones. The Keeper of the Seals is under investigation for “illegal taking of interests”.

He is suspected of having used his status as minister to settle accounts with former magistrates of the national financial prosecutor’s office with whom he had trouble in the case of “the tapping of Paul Bismuth” when he was a lawyer. And also with Judge Édouard Lavrault, whom he had opposed in the past.

Locksmiths and safes

After several complaints filed by unions of magistrates but also by the anticorruption association Anticor, the Court of Justice of the Republic opened a judicial investigation for “illegal taking of interests”. It is in this context that a search took place, Thursday from 9 am to midnight, Place Vendôme, in the premises of the Ministry of Justice.

According to our information, the investigators, accompanied by about twenty gendarmes from the Paris research section, searched the minister’s office but also that of his director of cabinet, his private secretariat and the offices of the criminal affairs department and of graces (DACG).

They also called on the services of locksmiths to open, using a grinder, safes placed in the minister’s library and whose keys no one could find. If they did not find anything inside, they recovered, according to our information, documents in the offices visited. And therefore seized several mobile phones including one of those belonging to Eric Dupond-Moretti himself. This can “possibly” pose national security problems, according to his entourage contacted by 20 minutes.

The investigation is accelerating

While the former tenor of the bars has been in office for a full year, this investigation seems to be accelerating. According to our information, Prime Minister Jean Castex was interviewed on June 7 by the magistrates of the CJR as a witness. The director of judicial services, Paul Huber, was also auditioned.

According to several sources, Eric Dupond-Moretti could be summoned soon. He risks indictment for “illegal taking of interests”. An event that would be likely to disrupt the end of Emmanuel Macron’s mandate.
