One million electric cars – Auto & Mobil

The goal of the federal government, issued in 2009, should be achieved in the next few months.

In August 2009, the then federal government set a major goal: by 2020, one million electric vehicles should be rolling on Germany. Now the time has come: With the new registrations in July, the million mark for plug-in hybrids and purely electric vehicles has been reached, said the Ministry of Transport, Environment and Economics this week. However, commercial vehicles and buses are also included in the statistics. If you only look at passenger cars, according to market observers, the million will probably only be reached in the coming months. According to the information, a little more than half of the vehicles (54 percent) are operated purely electrically; 46 percent are plug-in hybrids that also have an internal combustion engine.
