One dead, four injured and 22 people relocated

The toll is heavy after a fire broke out in the Saint-Roch district of Nice, this Monday evening around 9 p.m. A 55-year-old man died and four people were injured, including a firefighter and a 70-year-old woman. The latter is very seriously injured and had to be rushed to the Grasse hospital center, as reported by our colleagues from France Info.

Occurring on the 5th floor of an apartment located at 16 avenue Denis Semeria near the Nice-Pont-Michel station, the fire was brought under control this Tuesday morning after long hours of fighting. The firefighters and police ensured that the fire would not resume by quickly evacuating the rubble. During the night, 22 residents of the neighborhood had to be rehoused urgently.

An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the start of this fatal fire.
