On the Theresienwiese: Let’s go to the Spring Festival – Munich

Well, it wasn’t exactly spring-like on Friday afternoon when the spring festival, which is often called the “little sister of the Oktoberfest”, was about to start on the Theresienwiese. It was windy and drafty and nice and fresh for the bare legs of the boys in their lederhosen and the girls in their dirndls.

But what has to be, has to be, and so economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner tapped the first barrel after the audience had been attracted with free beer. The festival lasts until May 5th and is open during the week from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on weekends from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. This year the Mass Beer costs 12.80 euros (Festhalle Bayernland, Augustiner) or 13.80 euros (Hippodrom, Spaten).

On Saturday, April 20th, there is the big BRK flea market surrounding the festival, both Tuesdays are family days with reduced prices, and there are fireworks on Fridays. And maybe spring will come after all.
