On the rowing regatta course: Joggers save rowers – Munich

Two joggers saved a man from drowning on the rowing regatta course in Oberschleißheim early Thursday evening. The 50-year-old from the Dachau district was traveling on the canal in a one-person rowing boat when he capsized without anyone else’s intervention. He was unable to free his feet from the holders of the rowing sled and was in danger of drowning. This was noticed by the two joggers, a 45-year-old woman from Munich and a 55-year-old man from the district, who were running next to them on the street. They jumped into the water, freed the rower and pulled him to shore.

The fire brigade had now been notified, and water rescue services and even a rescue helicopter arrived. But that wasn’t necessary: the rower and his rescuers just warmed up briefly in an ambulance and then went on their way.
