On the Death of the Translator John E. Woods – Culture

From

Willie Winkler

By rights, Patrick Süskind, Ingo Schulze, Christoph Ransmayr and Doris Dörrie should appear in this ad, along with Libuše Mónikóva, Günter Grass, Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Alfred Döblin and Thomas Mann. John E. Woods translated them all and thus opened up the Anglo-Saxon world to German-language literature.
