On the death of Rebekah Habermas – Culture

It was as if she opened windows and doors for a new spring in historiography: as a historian, Rebekka Habermas addressed the issues that move the present.

You often read about people who change a room just by entering it. But you can only experience this yourself very rarely; it is a special gift. It was like that with her. Rush in, spread a huge amount of stuff – coat, scarf and extra wide bag – around the room and then – start laughing. For good friends the mocking laugh, for strangers the welcoming laugh and for everyone else the contagious laugh. In her presence, everyone was at the center of relevance, discourse and fun. Nowhere could be better at this moment.
