On-site meeting in the drinking water dispute – Bavaria

Representatives of the environmental committee in the Bavarian state parliament want to get an idea of the conditions around the Munich drinking water sources in the Mangfalltal in the district of Miesbach on Tuesday. This was decided by the MPs on Thursday; the decision on a petition from three landowners, the association “Unser Wasser”, the city of Miesbach and the communities of Warngau and Valley they have postponed for so long. They had turned against a fertilization and grazing ban that the government of Upper Bavaria wants to pronounce in anticipation for those areas in the Mangfalltal that are to be in an extended water protection area in the future. Farmers and local politicians in the Miesbach district have been fighting this expansion for many years because they fear additional restrictions. The dispute is considered trend-setting for dealing with outdated water protection areas in Bavaria.
