A 33-year-old complained of nausea on a Ryanair Italian domestic flight shortly after takeoff. Shortly afterwards he died. Two doctors on board were no longer able to help him.

After the start, the 33-year-old suddenly complained of nausea and collapsed shortly afterwards. The on-board staff and two doctors who happened to be on the plane tried to stabilize the man using a defibrillator – but in vain.

When the crew recognized the man’s plight, the pilot of the plane immediately changed course and turned towards Turin airport, where emergency doctors finally went on board after the plane landed. According to the daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera,” it took 36 minutes from takeoff to landing. But the emergency doctors were no longer able to help the man, who was accompanied by his pregnant wife. The woman was taken to hospital.

The background to the sudden death on the Ryanair plane is unclear

Shortly after the incident, there were allegations that emergency personnel were blocked at the airport and therefore could not get to the Ryanair plane in time to help the passenger. The Italian operations center denied this to “Corriere della Sera”. Accordingly, the first ambulance was already waiting at the gate when the plane arrived.

It is currently unclear why the man on board became ill and ultimately died. The police have launched an investigation.
