We all have, in our closets or our garages, nails, screws, leftover tiling or tiles, or a can of paint that we will probably never use. On the platform Klooviscreated in the spring in Montpellier (Hérault), you can sell and buy second-hand tools and materials of all kinds in one click.
The site was founded by Nicolas Comont and Mickaël Samama. It was the first, a building contractor, who suggested the idea to the second, an e-commerce specialist. At the end of his projects, Nicolas Comont lamented having to, most of the time, throw a good number of materials in the dumpster. “Entrepreneurs do not necessarily have the necessary storage capacity,” explains Mickaël Samama.
Individuals are also welcome.
Thus was born Kloovis, a true Vinted of tools. On the platform, craftsmen can make ends meet, declutter their premises and make an eco-responsible gesture, avoiding throwing away what can still be used. But individuals, Sunday handymen, are also welcome. To sell an old drill or nuts, it’s like on all second-hand platforms: you add your product, a description, photos, and a price. The site is paid with a 5% commission on each sale, and a fee of 75 cents, payable by the buyer. The seller pays nothing.
For now, Kloovis does not allow parcels to be sent during a transaction. The functionality will be effective in 2023. In the meantime, seller and buyer must meet to finalize the deal. But what is the point, to sell tools or materials, of betting on Kloovis, and not on Le Bon coin or Vinted? “On Le Bon Coin, only two categories correspond to these sectors,” says Mickaël Samama. There are a lot of products in there. It’s not really optimized for performing specific searches in those environments. Indeed, on Kloovis, we are a bit like a virtual DIY store. In the Materials section, for example, you can filter products dedicated to ceilings, walls, floors, etc. And in the Painting section, we can distinguish products for parquet, for exteriors, or for wood.
Launched in the spring, the platform, which has attracted professionals and individuals in the south, Brittany or the Paris region, hopes to conquer all of France.
