OM is closed in camera after incidents against PSG, grandstands closed for Saint-Etienne

The disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP), meeting on Wednesday, sanctioned Olympique de Marseille with a match behind closed doors for the incidents that occurred during the classic against PSG at the Vélodrome on October 24. Already sanctioned for overflows by its supporters in the visitor parking lot during a match in Angers on September 22, OM risked a withdrawal of one point in the standings in the event of a repeat offense.

At the end of two weeks of instruction, the disciplinary commission finally decided to inflict a match behind closed doors to the Olympian club, which will be the one against Troyes on November 28 according to OM. Contacted by AFP, the club did not wish to comment on the committee’s decision. During the match of the 11th day of Ligue 1 (0-0) between OM and PSG, projectiles were notably thrown at the Parisian corner shooters in the first period and a spectator entered the lawn in the 72nd minute.

ASSE also knows its sanctions

Outside the stadium, 21 people had been arrested for other incidents. Half a dozen had been sentenced to terms of up to two years in prison, all accompanied by stadium bans. In addition, the committee decided on Wednesday to completely close the Saint-Etienne stadium, (a sanction already served as a precautionary measure during the meeting between the Greens and Clermont), after the incidents that occurred in Geoffroy-Guichard during the match against Angers on October 22 (2-2).

The Stéphanois supporters had caused the postponement of about an hour of the kickoff of the meeting, in particular by throwing smoke which had deteriorated the goal nets. In addition, the club is forced to close the Paret and Snella stands at the Geoffroy-Guichard stadium for two matches. It also suffers from a closure for two games of its visitor parking lot. The first of these two matches has already been served as a precautionary measure during the match played by the Stéphanois in Metz.
