Alexander Zverev was recently over in Munich. The Olympic champion wants to do better in his native city in the summer.

Alexander Zverev is at the tennis tournament in Hamburg this year. The Olympic champion gave his commitment for the Hamburg European Open, as the organizers announced.

“I’m happy to be back for the first time since 2019. Winning the tournament is a huge childhood dream of mine,” said the 26-year-old, who was born in Hamburg. The traditional tournament at Rothenbaum takes place from July 22nd to 30th.

This week Zverev is at the Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid. In the Spanish capital, Zverev wants to continue to get in shape for the French Open. The second Grand Slam tournament of the season begins on May 28th.

Most recently, Zverev failed at the tournament in Munich right at the start. Afterwards he said that he often felt uncomfortable at tournaments in Germany. “I’ve had a hard time dealing with the pressure of playing in Germany over the past few years. I’m incredibly nervous. I don’t show anywhere near the level in the match that I show in training,” Zverev said. He now wants to do better in Hamburg.
