But nobody seems to know how the historic buildings will be filled with life over the next 50 years.
Professional football and concerts in particular have worn them for almost half a century. The footballers have been playing in Fröttmaning for a long time, and the bands may be at the airport in the future. There are the arenas, the box seats, the comfort and the money. In the park is the monument protection, in the future possibly strengthened by the desired status of a world cultural heritage. Sounds good, but also a lot like a museum.
In the venerable Olympic Stadium there was sometimes a car race, sometimes a ski jumping competition. That shows the desperation of those responsible. The Olympic Hall is fit again after the renovation, but not sexy for real stars. A first step into the future will be the new sports arena on the site of the former cycling stadium, which will host basketball and ice hockey in the future.
It is difficult to judge from the gut whether a new large concert hall on the premises of the ice sports center could be a second one. The fact that nobody really knows at the moment shows the root of the problem. There is no sustainable future concept for the entire Olympic site to be seen.
