Olympia 2022: reports: Kamila Valieva (15) had a positive doping test

Light is slowly coming into the doping darkness at the Olympics!

The award ceremony of the team figure skating competition was postponed on Tuesday, and on Wednesday there were first reports of a positive doping test among the victorious Russians.

Now Russian media are providing the name: Kamila Valieva!

The 15-year-old child prodigy was the first woman to jump four times at the Olympia Toeloop and Salchow, and was celebrated for it worldwide.

Now the doping shock!

The newspaper “RBC” writes that the banned substance found is trimetazidine, a drug used to treat chest and back pain. It has been on the doping list since 2015.

The corresponding sample is said to have been taken two months ago.

According to the rules of the anti-doping agency WADA, Valieva is considered a “protected person” because of her age. This means that her name is not officially mentioned by WADA.

At the same time, they could be punished far less severely than adult doping offenders.

The IOC declined to confirm the report at Thursday’s press conference. “It would be inappropriate for us to comment on an ongoing legal proceeding,” said spokesman Mark Adams. He generally pointed out that the IOC had transferred all doping tests and the decision on possible sanctions to the International Test Agency (Ita) and the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).

The investigative website “insidethegames” writes that entire teams of lawyers are currently dealing with the case and that new developments are expected in the course of Thursday.
