Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz commented on the ESC in 2023 for the Austrian radio station FM4. They will also be in use in 2024.

Jan Böhmermann (43) and his podcast partner Olli Schulz (50) are once again part of the Eurovision Song Contest. “They do it again,” it says on the website of the Austrian radio station FM4. After the premiere last year, the presenter and the singer are once again commenting on the ESC for the station. This time they will report live from Malmö, Sweden. This year’s ESC final will take place there on May 11th.

“A kind of accompanying program”

The two “Fest & Fluschig” podcasters will be heard and seen that day from 8:45 p.m. on radio FM4 and in the video stream on fm4.ORF.at and in the TVThek. In a statement, Böhmermann acknowledged all commentators and assured that they did not want to compete with them. “It’s more of a kind of accompanying program,” he describes the ESC broadcast with his colleague.

Looking back, the moderator is also thrilled about the commentary premiere: “The first feeling when we came out of the dressing room was: Dude, we’ll do that again next year. That’s so cool!” Olli Schulz also still appreciates the effort last year: “We were really lucky with FM4 that they were so keen on us!”

It is not yet clear who will comment on the performances of the ESC acts in Malmö on German TV after Peter Urban (75) has said goodbye. The traditional ESC programs “Countdown” and “Aftershow” will be broadcast live from the Scandinavian city on May 11th – together with ORF and Swiss television. The Eurovision opening show with presenter Barbara Schöneberger (50) starts at 8:15 p.m., the extension at around 1 a.m. In between, the broadcasters will broadcast the ESC final live from 9 p.m.
