Olivia Newton-John is dead: trickling silver, warm glowing gold – culture

Probably no one has ever understood what the truly confused cinema-musical film “Xanadu” is actually about, but at least one can agree on that: Olivia Newton-John plays a fair fairy, a muse or some other magical creature. It’s 1980, she’s at the top of the crowd’s favour, in her blonde, tooth-white pop bloom. The hair looks like the hairdressers from “Dallas” and “Charlie’s Angels” crossed their magic blow-dryers and fluffed up the best waves of the century. But what matters, the really special thing, it’s something else. Something to hear with the heart. Normal ears are sufficient in this case, however.
