There’s a book on his desk right now, says Oliver Kahn, “I’ve already read it.” The book is called “Tradition does not score goals”, Marco Bode wrote it together with the author Dietrich Schulze-Marmeling. It deals with the challenges of the modern football business and it is the occasion for a conversation between two former team-mates, who are now 53 years old. Bode, chairman of the supervisory board at Werder Bremen for seven years until 2021, is connected to the FC Bayern office via video call. Bayern CEO Kahn sits across from the screen at the conference table. Before SV Werder’s guest appearance in Munich on Tuesday, the focus is on the duels between the two clubs as they used to be.
