A woman suffered a thrombosis after being vaccinated with the Astrazeneca corona vaccine and was taken to the intensive care unit. She is demanding compensation and damages.

Before the Higher Regional Court (OLG) Bamberg, the negotiation of a claim for damages against the Corona vaccine manufacturer Astrazeneca started. The 32-year-old plaintiff was vaccinated in 2021 with the British-Swedish company’s Covid-19 vaccine. As a result, she suffered what is known as intestinal vein thrombosis and was temporarily treated in the intensive care unit. According to her own statements, she is still suffering from the consequences to this day.

The Hof district court dismissed the woman’s lawsuit in early January. She appealed against this. The manufacturer’s lawyers reject the plaintiff’s claim and refer to the judgment of the first instance.

The civil lawsuit is one of the first against a corona vaccine manufacturer in Germany. It is unclear whether a verdict will be issued on Monday. It would also be conceivable for the parties to reach a settlement.

The woman demands from Astrazeneca at least 250,000 euros in compensation for pain and suffering, as well as 17,200 euros for loss of earnings and up to 600,000 euros for future impairments.

At the beginning of the process, the woman’s lawyer also requested that the manufacturer be obliged to provide information about all side effects and negative consequences of vaccination with its corona vaccine.
