Olaf Scholz relies on EU solidarity and is “sure that it will succeed”

See the video (without narration): Olaf Scholz after a meeting with the Slovenian Prime Minister Golob about the possible gas crisis:

“We all agree that we must provide comprehensive support to Ukraine. Politically, militarily, economically, humanitarianly and, of course, through the sanctions that we have imposed against Russia’s aggression. But we also know that this war is now presenting us with major challenges that go far beyond the immediate combat.
At the same time, we will have to do everything we can to reduce our dependence on such energy supplies. It has something to do with building energy infrastructure that will, in the short term, enable us to get oil and gas from other sources. But it is particularly important, but of course also, that we push ahead with being able to supply ourselves with renewable energies.
The development of wind power, solar energy plays a big role for our two countries and we have discussed it very carefully. With Repower-EU, we want to support what is being launched in Europe. But above all, we want to work together ourselves, because it is of the utmost importance to us that we make progress here. Germany has a very ambitious program and wants to be a CO2-neutral industrial country by 2045.
First of all, of course we have to show solidarity in Europe. We have also committed ourselves to this in many, many discussions and conferences and Germany will act accordingly. I’m also sure that we will succeed.”
