The Oktoberfest in Munich had barely begun when the first accident occurred. According to a media report, there are several injured.

A heavy one According to a media report, an accident on the roller coaster “Höllenblitz” marred the first evening of the Oktoberfest. As the “Bild” newspaper reports, two cars collided at 10:30 p.m. Several people were injured and had to be taken to hospital. Images from on site show the injured being cared for by paramedics.

The “Höllenblitz” is considered the largest indoor roller coaster in the world. The roller coaster runs in the dark and reaches speeds of up to 79 kilometers per hour.

Oktoberfest ushered in

The Oktoberfest was opened on Saturday at 12 p.m. by Munich’s mayor Dieter Reiter. It is considered the largest folk festival in the world and runs until October 3rd.
