Oktoberfest poster 2022 is set – Munich

A sun in the shape of a Ferris wheel shines through a still empty beer tent, at the entrance the Münchner Kindl and the angel Aloisius stand expectantly hand in hand: After two canceled Oktoberfests, this year’s Wiesn poster has symbolic power. Also for this year it is not quite sure whether the Wiesn will take place – the decision is expected in spring.

“Like no other, his motif illustrates the Wiesn longing and the anticipation of the festival after two years of standstill,” said Wiesn boss and Munich economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) on Thursday at the poster presentation for the motif of the Munich financial and actuary Leo Höfter. A jury chaired by Baumgärtner selected the motif from 30 designs favored by the public.

“Of course we presented a poster every year, even if the Oktoberfest was canceled,” said Baumgärtner. “But this year it will really be used. I’m sure of it.” The Oktoberfest will take place. “All the opening steps that the federal government is now taking point in the right direction,” said Baumgärtner. In his presentation, a concept is being worked on as to how an Oktoberfest can take place under Corona conditions. If there is an Oktoberfest, only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are expected to have access. Experts are currently working on how controls could actually take place – for example digitally via an app. The Oktoberfest is scheduled from September 17th to October 3rd. Since 1952, the state capital has held a competition in which designs for the official Oktoberfest poster can be submitted.
