At 12 o’clock today in Munich it was said: “Ozapft is”. This marks the beginning of the 188th Oktoberfest. The benches will be swaying to live music until October 3rd. Andreas Gabalier hopes for the success of his hit.

The Austrian singer Andreas Gabalier sees a chance that his song “Hulapalu” will become a Wiesn hit again. “We’ll see. Maybe it will be ‘Hulapalu’ a third time,” he said shortly before the official opening of the Munich Oktoberfest.

The 38-year-old said in the Schottenhamel marquee that he had been asked by “a hundred people” whether he would come to the tap. “Hulapalu” was the most popular hit at the festival in 2016 and 2017.

After the tap, Gabalier was first seen toasting with presenter Florian Silbereisen and presenter Carolin Reiber. And then he climbed the stage of the marquee and sang – of course – “Hulapalu”.
