Alcohol, partying and hearty food: health doesn’t play a role at Oktoberfest. It doesn’t matter, after all there’s a “Wiesn detox infusion” afterwards. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Afschin Fatemi reveals what’s behind it.

Not only celebrities, but also many of the normal Oktoberfest guests went to the beauty doc before their big appearance. The Düsseldorf cosmetic surgeon Dr. Afschin Fatemi had set up an Oktoberfest consultation hour especially for the Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest: After the Oktoberfest, the Oktoberfest detox infusion

Even after the end of the largest folk festival in the world, things continue. “After the Oktoberfest, many people have an Oktoberfest detox infusion to keep the immune system healthy even after the celebrations,” explains Dr. Fatemi in an interview and takes stock after his Oktoberfest consultation.

How did you come up with the idea of an Oktoberfest consultation hour?

Dr. Fatemi: The idea of an Oktoberfest consultation came about ten years ago when we noticed that people increasingly wanted to appear radiant in their traditional costume during Oktoberfest. The tradition of Oktoberfest and the love for Bavarian costumes are the decisive factors that inspired us to offer a special consultation hour for Oktoberfest visitors.

How big was the crowd?

Dr. Fatemi: The crowds were relatively large, especially right before the Oktoberfest began, which is why we introduced the Oktoberfest consultation hours one day before the festival began. Many people wanted to make sure they were in the best shape to enjoy the festival and look confident while doing so. This led to an increased need for aesthetic treatments.

Did more celebrities or more “normal people” attend the consultation hours?

Dr. Fatemi: In fact, more “normal people” took advantage of our consultation hours. However, we have also covered some well-known personalities.

Which treatments were particularly in demand?

Dr. Fatemi: For women, the first priority was the classic Botox treatment for smooth skin, followed by hyaluronic fillers and vitamin infusions. Additionally, Hydrafacial and EmSculpt were in high demand.

For men, Botox also came first, followed by vitamin infusions, final EmSculpt treatments as well as hyaluronic fillers and Hydrafacial. After the Oktoberfest, many people have an Oktoberfest detox infusion to keep their immune system healthy even after the celebrations.

For example, how long does the classic Botox treatment last for smooth skin?

Dr. Fatemi: The durability of a classic Botox treatment can vary depending on the patient and treatment, but it usually lasts around 3 to 6 months.

What risks are there with the treatments?

Dr. Fatemi: If the treatments are carried out by a specialist, the risks and side effects are relatively low. Swelling and redness may occur for a short time, but this will subside on its own.

What is the cheapest treatment and what is the most expensive?

Dr. Fatemi: The cost varies depending on how much material is used and which areas are treated. This means that the price range for the treatments in our Oktoberfest consultation hours was between 300 and 3,000 euros, depending on the individual needs and wishes of the patient.
