The power struggle around and on the Wiesn continues: The “Oktoberfest 1900” series will be continued as a two-part series.

It has been almost three years since the six-part series of events “Oktoberfest 1900” was broadcast on the Erste and via the ARD media library. Despite critical acclaim and strong viewing figures, the future of the production was uncertain – until now. According to a funding report from the Film and Media Foundation NRWthat the “Oktoberfest” saga will continue, albeit in a slightly different form.

The sequel entitled “Oktoberfest 1905” is a two-part series, i.e. no longer a six-episode series format. According to the announcement, the scripts for this have already been written and come from Ronny Schalk, Dani Markel and Benjamin Seiler.

Hannu Salonen (50), who was already responsible for “Oktoberfest 1900” as director, will be back on board. And the acting ensemble around Mišel Matičević (53), Klaus Steinbacher (29), Mercedes Müller (26), Brigitte Hobmeier (47) and Michael Kranz (40) will once again enter the intrigue and power game around the Wiesn.

The two-part project is being funded by the Film and Media Foundation NRW with a sum of 400,000 euros. When “Oktoberfest 1905” is to be expected is not clear from the averaging.

Merciless power struggle in costume

“Oktoberfest 1900” is about the battle between two beer dynasties for supremacy at the world’s largest folk festival. At the center of the story is Curt Prank (Matičević), a big brewer from Franconia who wants to become a Oktoberfest innkeeper, but has a difficult time as a foreigner: he doesn’t get a liquor license, and the top dogs don’t even consider Prank as one of their own accept. But the “Zuagroaste” is not a child of sadness either. He uses blackmail and bribery to gain a foot in the door – and the unscrupulous prank doesn’t even shy away from contract killings.
