Oil and pellet heating: Hardship assistance can be applied for shortly – Bavaria

The federal government has provided a total of 1.8 billion euros for private households that heat with non-connected energy sources such as wood or oil. Application start is May 15th.

Consumers in Bavaria have also felt the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine – among other things in the form of massively increased electricity and heating costs. In December 2022, the federal government then announced a hardship fund for private households that heat with non-connected energy sources.

As the Bavarian State Ministry for Family, Labor and Social Affairs has announced, up to 1.8 billion euros are now available for the hardship regulation. Corresponding auxiliary requests can – online on the website of the Ministry of Social Affairs – be made from May 15th.

Fuel oil, liquid gas, wood pellets, wood chips, wood briquettes, split logs, coal and coke are understood to be non-cable-bound energy sources. According to the ministry, residents of private households in the Free State of Bavaria receive hardship assistance. Hardship assistance can only be applied for for one place of residence (e.g. primary residence). Residents of a private household (tenants or owners) in Bavaria are eligible to apply. The Ministry of Social Affairs has published further detailed information on hardship assistance on its website.
