FC Barcelona are cleaning up their squad and loaning Philippe Coutinho to England. The Brazilian will stay with Aston Villa until the end of the season.
FC Barcelona loaned Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa until the end of the season. The two clubs confirmed this on Friday.
At the same time, Villa secured a purchase option for the 29-year-old Brazilian who came to the Catalans from Liverpool four years ago for 135 million euros.
Medical check and work permit are still missing
Coutinho still has to pass the medical check-up in England and get a work permit. According to Aston Villa, he will be traveling to the island within the next 48 hours.
In the 2019/20 season, Coutinho was loaned to FC Bayern Munich. The German record champions finally left the purchase option, which was also agreed at the time, unused.
