“Oedipus King” at the Theater Regensburg – Munich

This is something you rarely experience: two premieres in a row, both productions know nothing about each other, and yet their stage design is based on a similar basic idea. The opera “Zanaida” by Johann Christian Bach had just premiered at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, and Edith Kollath placed a room-filling loom on the stage, a symbol of a flourishing Persian textile industry and the entanglements of the characters on the stage. Now you come to the big house of the Regensburg Theater and you see on the stage: a loom. But completely different.
