Obituary: Hans-Joachim Lang is dead – Ebersberg

He always liked to remain in the second row, although he should have been at the forefront with his knowledge, skills and commitment: Hans-Joachim Lang, long-standing member of the board of the local history group. He died completely unexpectedly at the age of 78 after a tragic fall.

Hans-Joachim Lang was born in Olmütz/Moravia in 1944. At the end of the war, his mother, like so many others, had to flee with the baby. Hans-Joachim Lang attended secondary school in Pasing, then completed his training as an insurance salesman. In 1969, Hans-Joachim Lang married his Rosemarie, and in 1972 the couple settled in Zorneding. In 2005 he retired and shortly thereafter became active in the local history circle. He played a key role in all four town books (Ingelsberg, Wolfesing, Zorneding, Pöring), did thorough research, formulated connections and always looked closely.

He was also active as a passionate family researcher, co-founded a regular researcher meeting and wrote a book about the Lang family line. He was significantly involved in making the extensive archive of the local history circle digitally accessible and became its best expert. If you wanted to know something, you turned to him with confidence: he knew the answer right away or was able to help you in some other way. Hans-Joachim Lang was more or less “the memory” of the local history group.
