Obituary for Dieter Wedel: Mister Minit – Media

To the death of Dieter Wedel, who staged solid TV goods as needed and was considered a genius, which was part of the problem.

The genius suspicion did not leave him until the end. A man who smears his own screenplays to the point of being illegible, insults all employees from the lighting technician to the cutter at every opportunity, even leads his star actors like a reincarnated Genghis Khan and of course also overspends the budget (which was the most sympathetic thing): yes, yes just be a genius. However, Dieter Wedel lacked a lack of recognition and chronic failure to be a real genius, but to the seething envy of all colleagues, Dieter Wedel was almost always successful, his series, starting with “Once in a Lifetime” (1972), the first part of his Semmeling saga, already delivered Quota, before word got around about the dull imperative of reach in the broadcasters.
