It was probably a tragic accident that cost Chile’s former president Sebastián Piñera his life. On Tuesday, the 74-year-old was traveling in a helicopter in southern Chile. He had a pilot’s license and, according to press reports, was probably behind the wheel himself. Shortly after the start there were problems, possibly due to heavy rain. The helicopter crashed into a lake, three of the occupants are said to have been able to escape to the shore; But Piñera himself died in the accident. Divers recovered the body from a depth of 40 meters on Tuesday.
