Oberschleißheim – New prefabricated daycare center – District of Munich

The new children’s home in Oberschleißheim is to be built from prefabricated components so that it is available as quickly as possible. The local council decided unanimously to tender the work using this technology. The supporting structure should be made of wood or wood hybrid. The tender should go out this year, and architects and specialist planners should be appointed at the beginning of 2022. The day care center is to be built on the site of the former HPCA kindergarten next to the indoor swimming pool.

After extensive debates, the local council decided in the course of the year to build a new children’s home for at least six groups on their own. The developers of the new development areas at Kreuzacker and Schäferanger, who would be obliged to set up childcare facilities for their residential construction, are to be financially involved in the community’s construction project. Both the early decision to set the building standard and the selected prefabrication method are intended to accelerate the project.

After years of ignoring the increase in demand, the community now has a glaring shortage of childcare places. During the construction phase of the new children’s home, provisional containers, also in the area around the indoor swimming pool, are supposed to meet the demand to some extent. The new children’s house should be designed for at least six groups and be expandable by at least four more groups, according to the specifications. Whether and how the existing building on the site will still be used is still open.
