Oberschleißheim – horse clinic for 1200 patients – district of Munich

Horses also have to go to the doctor – and so that they can all get an appointment, a new horse clinic has been inaugurated in Oberschleißheim. According to the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, 1200 horses can be treated here every year. It is about foal intensive care and reproductive medicine as well as the treatment of top sport horses. According to the university, the clinic is the largest facility in southern Germany. “This state-of-the-art new building combines ideal framework conditions for research, studies and the treatment and care of horses,” said the President of the University, Bernd Huber, at the opening. The focus is also on training new veterinarians. Because the hospital is the largest training center for equine doctors in Germany, emphasized the dean of the veterinary faculty, Reinhard Straubinger. After more than four years of construction, the facility was moved into last year. A clinic for birds and a hospital for ruminants and pigs had previously been built on the Oberschleißheim campus. A small animal clinic follows.
