Oberschleißheim – Free travel with the high-tech sticker – Munich district

The Warnow Tunnel is one of the most modern road tunnels in Europe, it saves thousands of commuters the stop-and-go through the city center of Rostock every day and has the windscreen sticker for radio frequency identification (RFID) from the carpenters belonging to the Oberschleißheim Schreiner Group Prin-Trust an automatic payment system that has proven itself for a decade now. The Schreiner RFID label has been used by the private operator Warnowquerung GmbH & Co. KG since 2012. And the small vignette is still very well received by customers after ten years, according to a press release from the tunnel operator on the occasion of the anniversary.

Once this has been placed correctly on the inside of the windshield, handling is uncomplicated and simple: it only takes a few seconds for the label to connect to the customer account when driving through the toll station and debit the corresponding tariff. A stop is not necessary, the barrier opens automatically. Another advantage: With the RFID label, all twelve lanes can be used, two of which are specially reserved for these users. The label from Schreiner Prin-Trust and the RFID infrastructure are optimally coordinated through the cooperation with the technical service provider B&S Data Systems and thus ensure a clear journey with a read rate of almost 100 percent.

The Warnow Tunnel is the first privately financed road construction project in Germany. It was opened after 45 months of construction on September 12, 2003. The tunnel is 790 meters long. At the deepest point there is 14.5 meters of water above the tunnel ceiling. The tunnel is used by more than 12,000 road users every day.
