Oberschleißheim – broadband expansion for Badersfeld and Hochmutting – district of Munich

With Badersfeld and Hochmutting, two parts of Oberschleissheim’s municipality that have so far been largely undeveloped for the Internet are now to be given a fast broadband connection. The town hall has tapped a wide range of funding measures with which the supply of the line is to be financed. Expected costs of around 1.2 million euros, of which around 250,000 euros will remain with the community. In addition, around 50,000 euros in advice and support costs must be paid. The project costs will be included in the municipal budget for 2023, so implementation can be expected this year.

With the program now unanimously decided by the local council against the vote of Sebastian Riedelbauch (ÖDP), 75 addresses in the two locations will be equipped with broadband cabling. A funding program from Berlin is contributing around 620,000 euros, and a further 370,000 euros from a program from Munich. Nine addresses are not taken into account in this expansion program. According to the city hall, these nine connections alone would have caused additional costs of over 700,000 euros, which was viewed as disproportionate. However, it was expressly stated that any future programs could be connected at any time.

Oberschleißheim let the first state funding programs for broadband expansion pass for Badersfeld. In 2017, an interest group mobilized in the town on the other side of the A92 motorway and handed over a list of signatures with the request. Thereupon the town hall tried to get a funding campaign, but without further feedback it came to nothing. Another attempt was then started in mid-2020.
