And when it comes to rubbish, most people stink if it isn’t taken away on time. Fortunately, this is not organic waste, nor stinky residual waste, but the paper bin. The Oberhaching-based company can only turn up their noses at the announced additional queue at the fact that nothing fits in the vat, the lid can hardly be closed and the stacks of cardboard from the last orders blocking the way further down the hall. The bins remain full for the time being.
The reason for the late collection dates is simply staff shortages at the disposal company, as the administration reports. And they are apparently so massive that the waste paper has to wait. That’s not entirely surprising, because no matter what industry it’s currently in, delays due to a lack of staff or delivery problems are almost normal. You have to know what some people have accidentally thrown away with the waste paper. A few years ago in Munich, a 79-year-old man threw 15,000 euros in the garbage when he was moving. He simply put the envelope with the money on the wrong pile and only noticed the mishap after the dustbin had already been emptied. One such case was also remembered at the Heine disposal company in Ostenburg near Oldenburg, in which a desperate customer searched through a huge mountain of waste paper on the company premises for a missing amount of money, but was unsuccessful. At the university in Fribourg, Switzerland, 55 students had to repeat an exam because their answer sheets accidentally ended up in the waste paper and were shredded. The situation was similar for around 50 students at the Birkenfeld environmental campus, whose exams a cleaning lady had held for waste paper.
