Oberhaching – students squander found money – district of Munich

The temptation was too great for a 13-year-old schoolboy when he found a left-over briefcase with 14,900 euros at the Furth S-Bahn station on May 2nd. So he and his school friends set about wasting the money until parents noticed their children’s luxurious lifestyle and took them to the police. The injured party, a man from Sauerlach, got his money back.

According to the police, the teenager had told a friend about his coup, and in the end three boys and two girls from the southern district of Munich knew about it. The group, who knew each other from school, had a good time with the money, buying earrings and jewelry for the girls, among other things, bowling trips and even financing an e-scooter in the end.

They had already spent half of the money when their parents found out about them and took them to the Unterhachingen police station on Tuesday, a good two weeks after the crime. A large part of the goods purchased with the stolen money could have been returned, according to the police, and the parents had raised the remaining shortfall of between 1,000 and 2,000 euros. According to the police, the victim had already written off his money. Although the young people cannot be prosecuted because of their age, they are still summoned to a clarifying discussion with the police.
