Oberhaching: New cultural season – district of Munich

You don’t have to believe everything that Nietzsche says. Is God Really Dead? Does all lust want eternity? Or is it more repetition? In the coming spring and summer program, the cultural office in Oberhaching will resume the popular “Music & Antipasti” series after a break due to the pandemic: in addition to small, pleasurable treats, two concerts will be served in the library hall. At Sonic Leap on May 10th, newly arranged pop hits by Police, Stevie Wonder or Coldplay in a mixture of jazz and pop are on the program, while bassist Harald Scharf under the motto “Gotta be happy!” his new band Maloom and Ivorian-born singer Eva Ahoulou presents (June 28).

In addition to the mostly sold-out “Musik & Antipasti” events, the Oberhaching Jazz Festival organized by pianist Bernd Lhotzky should again be well attended. Anyone who wants to get tickets for the 16th edition of the festival – and for all sorts of other performances of the new culture season – can do so from this Thursday, February 16: online (www.oberhaching.de) and at all advance booking offices.

“Jazz is living music, always in motion, always exciting. We know: With swing you overcome gravity, improvisation frees you and makes you happy,” explains Lhotzky. “But the real miracle of this music is the human encounters.” The pianist, who grew up in Oberhaching, brought a large number of renowned jazz musicians to his festival on May 4th and 5th, including the great Munich saxophonist Carolyn Breuer, the young trumpeter Malo Mazurié, the guitarist Jörg Seidel and the pianist Thilo Wagner.

In terms of music, the program, headed by Volker Böhm, has a lot to offer: on March 19, the Ukrainian-German pianist Tanja Huppert will play Bach’s Goldberg Variations. A few days later, the Oberhaching Chamber Orchestra and Oberhachinger Choirs, conducted by Ricarda Geary, will perform Dvořák’s famous oratorio “Stabat Mater” (March 25). After a long break, the chamber orchestra will again be giving a special concert on May 11 with an “Italian-Spanish Night”. The pianist Gerold Huber, the soprano Andrea Oswald and the guitarist Davide Tomaso appear as soloists. Intoxicating Balkan folk, on the other hand, is on hand Foai Verde on the program on April 20th.

There’s also cabaret, of course: In addition to the clever old master Andreas Rebers (“Purely business: News from the moral world champion”) and the sharp-tongued rampage pig Franziska Wanninger (“For me, it should be red roses hail”), the Swabian one, which is not quite so well-known in local regions, also makes a guest appearance Music comedy trio Berta Epple with its current program “Open all year!” on April 27 in the parish. The cabaret season kicks off on March 12th with Stefan Waghubinger (“I’m just telling you”). There is also a cinema, exhibitions and an attractive children’s programme. Makes you want to more.
