Oberhaching: Dual leadership for the municipal utilities – district of Munich

The municipal works in Oberhaching (GWO) now have dual leadership. Since the area of responsibility of the municipal subsidiary has grown significantly in recent years, the municipal council has now put Sascha Bucklitsch at the side of the previous managing director Thomas Hümmer. This is not new at GWO, he has been commercial manager since November 2018. Both managing directors are authorized to represent GWO individually.

Hümmer has been in charge of the municipal utilities since they were founded in 2006. At that time, the task of the GWO was still the generation and provision of district heating from wood chips, later geothermal energy was added and since mid-2013 the municipal utilities have also been supplying green electricity. In parallel with the district heating network, a fiber optic network, meanwhile more than 70 kilometers long, was laid and went into operation in May 2015. In addition, the GWO are now active in the field of photovoltaics and will also be active in other regenerative energies in the future.

The areas of responsibility of the two managing directors are essentially based on the already existing main areas of work. Among other things, Thomas Hümmer remains responsible for the district heating business area, the technology area and the stake in Geo-Energie Taufkirchen, Sascha Bucklitsch is responsible for the electricity and fiber optic business area, the entire commercial area including billing and contracts as well as customer service and public relations.

Oberhaching’s Mayor Stefan Schelle (CSU), who is also Chairman of the GWO Supervisory Board, sees the expansion of the management as an important step for the future of the community subsidiary and for the upcoming tasks of the GWO.
