Nymphenburg: But no break-in in the castle – Munich

The alleged attempt to break into Nymphenburg Palace on Friday night wasn’t one – but the clumsiness of three young people.

As reported, a security employee heard the clinking of a pane of glass around two o’clock and then saw three people fleeing from a balcony. This was freely accessible via a staircase. The glass on a balcony door upstairs was broken, so the police initially assumed there was an attempted break-in.

On Sunday evening, three young people between the ages of 17 and 18 appeared at the police station in Laim, accompanied by a legal guardian. They said the broken window was their fault – but not because they wanted to break in. Rather, as the police write, one of them stumbled into the door during a “friendly scuffle,” causing it to break.

The three young people are now entitled to reimbursement of the damage amounting to several hundred euros as well as a report – although not for attempted burglary, but for damage to property.
