Nursing scientist Angelika Zegelin was deeply disturbed by what she experienced during her two-week treatment in the hospital after hip surgery. Patients are largely left to their own devices, complains the expert – and calls for drastic measures.
Angelika Zegelin, 71, was recently in the hospital. After a fall at home, she had to undergo surgery and had a new hip joint. The operation went well, a routine procedure that is practiced hundreds of times a day in German clinics. The problems began after the operation, when she was in the ward for two weeks of follow-up care.
