In the case of Alexandra R., 39, from Nuremberg, who has been missing since December 2022, the police executed arrest warrants against two suspects on Wednesday morning. This was announced by the public prosecutor’s office in Nuremberg-Fürth and the police headquarters in Central Franconia. The accused are a former partner of the woman and a business partner. The men, aged 50 and 48, will be brought before an investigating judge on Wednesday, who will decide whether they will be held in custody.
The two are said to have kidnapped and then killed the pregnant woman on December 9. The arrest warrants therefore include hostage-taking and murder. To date, the police have not found a body in the case.
According to the public prosecutor, there were business relationships between R. and the men. Before her disappearance, the woman worked as a senior bank clerk and is said to have owned several properties.
After the separation in the spring, her ex-partner Alexandra R. is said to have threatened “for economic reasons”. Specifically, he and his business partner are said to have obtained enforcement of almost 800,000 euros against R. – according to the public prosecutor’s office “fraudulently”. This foreclosure was later lifted. R. is said to have subsequently obtained a contact ban against her ex-partner; she also reported the now urgent suspects several times.
The investigators of a special commission had been targeting the two men as suspects since February and spoke of “suspects” at the time. Now they have hardened. According to their own statements, the police evaluated more than 900 traces and clues in the case. The police initially did not say exactly what lead led to the conviction that the men committed the crime.
In the past few months, her investigations have led her to Romania, R.’s country of origin, where parts of her family live. A car had driven there, which the police linked to the disappearance of the woman.
Alexandra R., who was eight months pregnant, brought her foster daughter to a daycare center on the morning of December 8 last year and then disappeared. The investigators were suspicious that almost all valuables – maternity card, mobile phones, money, cards and ID cards – were in her apartment, which made it unlikely that she would go into hiding voluntarily.
Later, however, the police found out that R. no longer used the mobile phones they found. Instead, your active smartphone appeared in Italy after the crime – the perpetrators may have wanted to set the wrong track.
